I have quite a few photosets to share, didn't manage to get them all up before we went away. Not all of them necessarily have a story to tell exactly, mainly they are small sets from all the many many times we have gone out on explorations over the last couple months. They don't all turn out to be phenomenal spots but we made the effort to get there so may as well get some shots, right?! This particular set was just a walk down on the beach. By some small miracle there was no one around, so I took the gap and had a dip! Will be putting up a few more of these small sets over the next week, while we work on all our new stuff.

We first met Dara in 2020 mere days before cvd-19 became a household name and the world went into perpetual lockdown. I have often thought back to our day with her, it's still such a poignant moment for us & proves how quickly the world can change. One day you are running naked through the forests laughing at the international loo paper crisis. A week later, the world stops and zombies come trundling across the lawn.... wait, sorry. That last bit might not *actually* have happened. (Facebook fact checker would hate me) Anyway, fast forward a bit, restrictions have lifted temporarily and we are finally returned to the Western Cape, having spent 5 months in another province. Dara and I stay in touch and, after some juggling around work shifts, set a date to catch up. Unintentionally it was exactly one year after our first shoot. Must be a sign. We met up for a walk and a sunset swim. Well that was the idea but the water was even colder than usual, so there wasn't a huge amount of swimming. None the less, we felt the water, scrambled over rocks and enjoyed each others company. Sunset was pure magic, managed to catch it at the end of our walk just before Dara had to dash off.. It was really good to catch up with her again... and wonderful to see she has managed to be creative and flourish over the last year, despite the challenges we have all faced. Hope you guys enjoy the photos. Dara has requested our selection be "Discreet" given her career. We can only respect her wishes and are grateful she lets us share our adventure with you here. Over December, we took things "slow". The festive season is always quite overwhelming, so we thought better to reserve our energy for when we need it most. That's not to say we didn't do anything at all - it just means we didn't push ourselves too hard. We rediscovered our love for bodyboarding, Liam did some epic long hikes, We watched sunsets and only did the tiniest bit of Bundu Bashing (that's local for going off path) All-in-all... We had just finished shooting with a friend and were walking her back to her car when we ran into our good friend Toby. He was just setting off for a stroll and the last of the sunset. We said our goodbyes to our friend, and walked a little way back with Toby, to a small low tide beach. We connected with @blxckmoonlilith many moons ago, I can't remember when exactly. Recently the opportunity for us to meeet came up and go for an adventure. We opted for an early morning hike as we all had plans for later in the day, lilith worked hard to find us, between an ailing Cellphone battery and google maps taking her to the wrong mountain trail parking lot, she made her way to our meeting point all smiles and relief that she had actually found us. We wasted no time and began our hike - a few Kms along the contour trail and then a steep-ish but well maintained trail up and across again to the next ravine, where we come upon a very sacred space, a beautiful old waterfall. Not dramatic in the sense of a large cascading waterfall - it is often, in the summer, no more than a green wall gently dripping - But dramatic in the way that time seems to stand still and stretches on forever in there. Just in the tiny nook of those large fallen trees and the magical mystical coolness of the water floating around you. Anyway I digress, lilith is a delightful mix of a sunny optimism with a dark and brooding sense of humour. We had good conversations on our way along the hike and by the time we hit the spot to shoot, we felt like we were old friends, Love it when that happens. Some other random hikers arrived moments after we did, ruining our plans to shoot at the waterfall itself, so we went off trail down the mountain a bit, following the water, only to find a second hidden little mossy waterfall thing. Quite magical actually. And some crazy big trees growing sideways out of the mountain slopes. For the next 2 hours, this was our playground. We played in the moss and water and found a cave and climbed some trees and it all felt like it was only one blip in time. But before we knew it, we had been up there for hours and Ash had an appointment! We dressed, and made our way back up to the original waterfall, squeezed in a cheeky 5min shoot there because its too pretty to miss altogether, and then sprinted back down the mountain, along the contour path and back to the cars. Breathless but elated, we said our goodbyes and made plans to meeet again soon! As we climbed into our car, the low cloud turned to rain and we drove away totally thrilled about the magical morning in that mystical space with an absolute gem of a human. March was a busy busy month. As our departure from Cape Town grows nearer, quite a lot of people have found time to link up before we go. Its been incredible meeting new and wonderful people, seeing some old friends again and making the most of our final weeks here. We really enjoyed making this video, we worked our butts off, froze on the odd occasion and by the end of it all our bodies were broken but our hearts were, once again, full. A big shout out to you guys, really without this family, we wouldn't be able to keep doing what we do. Eternally grateful for that!

A friend came up to visit us for a night, the next morning we set off into the mountains. We have been there many times before but every visit brings new adventures. This time we decided to go to the very bottom pool of a waterfall. The trip down was treacherous This time we decided to go to the very bottom pool of the waterfall. The trip down from the top was treacherous, no path (surprise surprise) not much by way of vegetation which meant not much to hold on to as we half shuffled, half slid our way down the slopes to the bottom. We finally made it - safe and in one piece. And how beautiful it was - totally worth the fear. We spent a couple hours there basking in the untouched beauty that surrounded us. The breeze catching the spray from the waterfall, cooling us as we sat on the rocks. The Red Disa (a rarely seen flower found in SA which grows on VERY wet places in the peak of Summer), growing in the cracks and gaps right in the waterfall. So beautiful. We ate, drank and laughed. Here's a set our friend took of us together, we love it.

We met up with Ali on our last trip into Cape Town. I tell you what - as incredible and full of light as she seems on her social platforms.... Ali is that, and so much more in person. A rare gem of a human. Sadly We had only a brief time with her to hang out this time. We drove into Cape Town to meeet up with her after she finished work, the afternoon had turned cool, the sun was blocked by a thick bank of clouds. Like me, Ali isn't a fan of the cold. haha. So we decided to start on the beach first, while there was still warmth in the air and time to dry up. I will admit that the ocean was particularly icy that afternoon, so we didn't venture in too deep this time, not even Liam and I. At least Ali and I had loads of fun running around the beach, the waves lapping at our ankles, and Liam chasing us up and down with the camera. We set the camera up on a rock and got it to take a few shots of all three of us, attempting to go in for a dip... we tried but wow, it was a little too much of a commitment that evening. As time was short and the walk back to the car park was at least 20mins, we opted not to stay at the beach, and rather make our way back along the rocks to see where else we could explore along the way... The photos tell the rest of the story. What a lovely day we had. Like so many others, we connected with Frank via Social Media. He was a huge fan of the project from our early days and he reached out to say he would love to join us one day. Some time passed and we remained in touch but Frank's extremely busy schedule made it almost impossible to make a solid plan. And then Covid happened, the world ground to a halt and we all had an opportunity to weigh up the importance of the things we spend time doing in our life. A valuable and rare opportunity for humankind to re-evaluate what we want from our time here. I have to say I am SO grateful that Frank decided that joining us on an adventure was definitely something he wanted to do and so we finally managed to set a date. The day arrived and so too did Frank. We took him on one of our favourite hikes. It has a variety of locations to shoot along the way - Rocky landscapes, forests, waterfalls, wonderful vistas and it ends, rather mercifully, at a beautiful river with a great swimming spot. Enjoy the set!
