The goats love tree leaves. All the trees around the outside of the fence all have their leaves ate off, well at least the ones they can reach. The goat that’s standing up got out and ate every leaf and the flowers on my apple tree it was very sad day for that tree. It’s still alive though, and it now has grown new leafs and looks like it’ll live.

I gave my first dozen chicken eggs away. I loved how all of them were a different color. These definitely don’t look like eggs you get from the grocery store. I think it’s so cool that my chickens are producing these eggs.

Im getting between 9-11 eggs a day right now. So more of my chickens have started laying eggs. I should continue to see other hens continue to start laying until winter then some may stop laying or slow down the amount they lay. They do that normally because they aren’t getting enough sunlight during the winter time to lay.

I have two alpine does that are still pretty little. Only 3-3.5 months old now. I still haven’t named them. I’ve had them for about a month maybe a little longer now. They both are super friendly and cute. I think it’s time I work on naming them though.

This is tuck a year ago today. He is so cute. I can’t believe he’s getting so big. He’s definitely grown. Still acts like a puppy though. He unites all the dogs and they all play together. They love tuck and tuck loves them.

This is Bunny. She is my only registered alpine goat. All my others came from registered lines they just aren’t registered themselves. The breeder gave her this name and I think it fits her. She’s very jumpy and skiddish. She’ll eat from your hand but if you just try to walk up to her without anything she won’t just let you pet her yet. She’s curious and seems to be growing up. She’s almost 4 months old and is almost 45 pounds. I’m really excited to see how big she’ll get full grown. Adult alpines should weight 125-175 pounds.

I found black berries along one of my trails. There’s at least 1,000 berries that will need to be picked. They are not ripe yet probably in the next couple weeks. This is the first year I’ve noticed them but there are so many.

Since my hens just started laying eggs they are small. I got one normal sized egg I cracked it open and it was a double yolker! Chickens will sometimes lay double or sometimes even triple yolkers and that’s where there’s 2 or 3 yolks in one eggs. It’s pretty rare though so it was definitely exciting when it happens.

I’ve been getting 2-3 eggs per day for the last week consistently, then today they laid 6 total eggs in one day. I’m so excited to see what this next week will bring. I should have around 25 hens that should be starting to lay soon.

So you can tell a hen is about to start or is laying by her comb on the top of her head. The red hen is laying or is about to start. Which the other ones I pictured are hens that still have some maturing to do before they’ll start. First they’ll grow the comb then it will turn red.

These were my eggs today. First green egg I’ve ever had! In the next month a lot of my chickens should start laying. I should have all different colors of eggs when they all start laying. I’m excited for that variety. So far I have a brown layer, a pink egg layer, and a green egg layer. The brown layer has been most consistent or has been laying the longest. Which is about one week now.

I got my first chicken eggs from my Rhode Island Red chickens. I know it’s them because they are the oldest and the hens have their combs reddening which is the sign of maturity in chickens.

This is Silver with some of her kittens and some of her sisters kittens. All the moms now share kittens and take turns caring for them. They all seem to like their babies still. I think they are almost big enough to start eating food in a week or so. They have access to liter boxes now but haven’t seen any use it yet.

This is one of my Easter egger roosters. He isn’t fully grown yet. He probably has another 2-4 months until he’s fully mature. I don’t know if I’ll keep this rooster because I already have a white Easter egger rooster I want to keep more. I have quite a few different breeds. I’m trying to keep one rooster of each breed. If I’m able. I still think that will be to many roosters for my hens.

This was my first batch of quail I hatched. They are around 3 weeks old right now. Fully feathered so they can be outside and off heat. They should start laying eggs in about 5 weeks!

This is one of Meanas babies. He is almost all the way black. But as you can see his eyes have started to open. I think I’m planning on keeping this one because it’s mostly black and I don’t have a black cat yet.
