Some subscribers have requested more images showing me, and I’d like to take the opportunity to articulate my position on physical interaction with models. First off, I’ve never done a shoot to “get with” a model, nor do I ever knowingly touch them against their consent. Sometimes I even set aside time within the shoot to just practice saying No, clarifying boundaries, etc. My goals are to make art and to give an uplifting experience. If a concept requires the model to pose with a male figure, I let the model choose whom she is most comfortable with. If she wants me to do it, there are people who really judge this choice. I do not. After all, not only do I love learning more by getting on both sides of the lens, but also I have the best ability to do what it is I’m looking for. For those who’ve seen the finished edit from the above set, you know I had to be sure I didn’t move at all between shots. A third-party model doesn’t know what the edit process will require. And if the model has a boyfriend who wants to pose with her, but then a bad breakup has her wanting me to delete all my hard work, that’s quite problematic in many ways. So I maintain the belief I’ve had for years: let the model and photographer choose together, as two responsible adults, what concepts they may or may not do together. Model: @radleyreaves_
