I have a pretty standard gym schedule. I used to be into various kinds of training and exercises but now I'm educated and know all those shitty Instagram videos of people saying do this do that are all bullshit haha. Just stick to basics and don't waste your time. My schedule looks like this:
- weights 4 days a week/cardio 2 times a week
- weights consist of mainly compound movements like squats, deadlifts, bench, military press (the main major movements). After I've hit them, I'll give myself a bit of freedom to hit isolated movements of what I feel like, so curls, extensions, lunges, rack pulls etc.
- for cardio, I've taken a liking to incline walking. It works for my fitness but also doesn't make me feel like shit after.
Overall, keep it simple. I've found if I walk in with a very strict plan, I fail. So, right out a simple plan like 4 days/week training - hit my compound exercises, and then give myself some freedom to decide how the rest of my session runs whether that be my isolated exercises or cardio.
*compound exercises are ones that you use multiple muscle groups - so they are most useful for developing strength. Isolated exercises are still good, but tend to work on a specific muscle only*
